Google Adwords Express

If you’ve never marketed your business online, doing so can seem like a pretty daunting task. On the hunt for a user-friendly way to establish your web presence in mere minutes? Look no further than Google’s AdWords Express! The new pay-per-click advertising site is, according to product manager Kiley McEvoy, “a faster and simpler way to start advertising online in under five minutes” and “is designed to help local businesses that aren’t already AdWords advertisers create effective campaigns.” Interested? Read on, future marketing master!

Easy, Cost-Effective and Convenient

The benefits of advertising with the new site (source: Google Places help page):

  • Attract more local customers to your website or Google Place page
  • Pay only when people click on your ad
  • Create ads directly from your Places account within minutes
  • Once you sign up, no ongoing management is needed
  • Stats on your Places dashboard measure the effectiveness of your ads
Small Business Tip

If you’re already successfully using the full-version of AdWords for your business, the new site isn’t for you. If you’ve tried AdWords in the past and found it too complicated to manage, or if you’re just starting to explore pay-per-click options for your local business, the new site is worth taking a look at.

As Simple as 1-2-3

The set up is simple. On the new site’s overview page, click the “Start Now” button – if you’re signed in to Google, you’ll be taken to the “Set up your AdWords Express ad” page. If you already have a Google account and a Places page, you’re ready to create your first ad – AdWords Express is managed from Google Places and requires all businesses to have a Places page. If not, create your account as prompted and when you set up your first ad a Google Places page for your business will be created automatically. (Convenient, huh?)

It Takes Care of Itself

You can choose to have your ad link to your website or your Google Places page; a maximum monthly advertising budget is recommended based on the category of your business. All you need to do is set your budget – the rest of your campaign is managed and optimized by Google.
