The Four P’s of Social Media Marketing for Small Businesses

Congrats! You’ve decided to give social media marketing a go because you know it’s important to your business and its success. You’ve probably created a handful of social accounts (on Twitter, Facebook and the like), added a few updates and started to gather friends and followers. But are you satisfied with the results?

It takes more than just making a few profiles to generate buzz around your business.  In order to succeed at social media, you need direction, focus, persistence, and drive. You have to have a game plan.Concentrating on key areas will help you develop that game plan.

If you want your small business to embrace social media and get real results, it’s essential to focus your attention on these four areas:

1. Passion

It’s the magic ingredient, and it’s the one thing you can’t fake. It affects everything, from your own personal motivation to the way you interact online. If you have it you can succeed; if you don’t, you’re probably going to burn out and give up. With it, you’ll be motivated to keep on keepin’ on.

2. Planning

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Creating a game plan will focus your efforts and keep you on track for success. Plan the outcome you desire, the steps you need to take, and when you’re going to take them. The more you plan, the easier you’ll make things on yourself.

3. People

Social media is all about connecting with people. No matter what, connecting with the right people will bring results. Whether it’s connecting with your ideal audience or with people who can promote you and your efforts, it’s essential to build proper relationships.

4. Personality

You’ve got one… the question is, how much do you want to let it shine? Social media provides the ultimate opportunity for you to be yourself, project an image, and entertain. If you miss this one ingredient, chances are your efforts will fall flat. Develop an online personality!

Small Business Tip

People can catch on to companies who automate their social profiles through outsourcing. Make sure your company’s online presence is real, human and reflects you and your company’s values.
